Carmelita Millett, an Assistant Vice President for over 24 years, currently manages a Call Centre Department. She has been married to Lyle Millett for 27 years. She is also a mother of 3 beautiful children, Carmeka, Layona and Joshua in addition to being the grandmother of Zaylie and Zaniyah.
Carmelita always loved to dance, so at the age of 16, she decided that she should to take dance classes. She joined the Jackson School of Dance, as she knew having technique was important and it would only better her dancing. In 1985 and 1986 Carmelita was selected to be one of eight Bermuda dancers called “The Follies” for Greg Thompson’s Show titled “Bermuda is Another World” a chapter in her life she found most rewarding!
BUT, it then all truly began on January 10, 1998, when she surrendered her life to the Lord. Carmelita understood a year later that God would use her gift in dance for the works of His Kingdom. So she decided to say YES to the call. Was the call easy? As with anything, it came with a price, but it never outweighed the price Jesus paid on the cross for her. In 2010 Carmelita birthed her vision of a Dance Showcase called “War Cry” Provoking Praise & Worship Through Dance. It was the first spiritual dance recital on the Island, showcasing all types of dance.
At her church home New Creation Worship Center, God has entrusted Carmelita with the responsibility of being the Team Leader of their Dance Ministry under the name of Anointed for Praise Warriors, which she leads until this day. Carmelita is also an Exhorter, Children’s Church Teacher and a Facilitator for in their Marriage Ministry. This journey has pushed her to be all that God has called her to be! She truly believes that we can do nothing without prayer and spending time in God’s word DAILY!
Another dream of Carmelita’s was to always start her own dance school, and she is now the Founder and owner of Anointed Steps Dance Ministry School, Bermuda’s First Dance Ministry School, which opened on May 12, 2014. The school offers all genres of dance, including spiritual dance, flags and Mime, creating a safe and healthy environment for all. Her desire is that every student from the age of 3 years to adults will come through the doors of the School and have an experience that will change their lives forever. The focus at her school is that students will be grounded with the word of God through scriptures and a school theme. Carmelita’s prayer is that every student will use their gift in the arts for the honor and glory of God! As her motto for the school states “Not just learning to dance...But learning to dance under the anointing!
Carmelita will always be guided by her favorite scripture Proverbs Chapter 3 verses 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path.”
